This list of uncommon nonbinary identities contains gender identities that have less record of their use, according to community census results and historical information, or sometimes no record at all, beyond their coinage and inclusion in glossaries. This does not mean that the identity is not valid, but that not many people have decided to use it (More information...). See also the list of nonbinary identities for more common ones.

    • Name(s): robogender
    • Origin:
    • Meaning: By one definition, a [[neurogender]] for neurodivergent people "who feel a bit robotic and take comfort in it".[178] By another definition, not a neurogender: for "people who feel like theyre deeply attached to robots gender-wise", regardless of masculinity or femininity.[179]
    • Keywords: neurogender, noungender, robot, xenogender
    • Demographics: In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, none of the 11,242 respondents said they were this, though six responses used the words robot or robo-.[1]

    S

    Salmacian

salmacian. "Suggested by [Raphael Carter in 1996 or earlier] as a term for male-to-intersex and female-to-intersex transsexuals." A reference to the myth of the deity Hermaphroditus and the nymph Salmacis.[180] Synonyms: bigenital, aphrodisian.[181][182] See also altersex. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, two respondents.[1]

    Sekhet

sekhet. In ancient Egypt (Middle Kingdom, 2000-1800 BCE), there were said to be three genders of humans: men, sekhet, and women, in that order. Sekhet is usually translated as "eunuch," but that's probably an oversimplification of what this gender category means. It may also mean cisgender gay men, in the sense of not having children, and not necessarily someone who was castrated.[183] Editors of this wiki have not found evidence of this term being significantly used as an identity label in the present day. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Smolgender

    Stargender

stargender. Has several meanings. A: "a person whose gender is otherworldly and beyond comprehension using earthly terms", B. "a person whose gender cannot be defined no matter how many other terms are created", C. "a person whose gender is that of a star".[184][185]

    Subgender

subgender. Similar to demigender and bigender, subgender is defined as being 3/4ths agender and 1/4th another identity. It was coined by tumblr user agenderchrismclean. [186] Also called minumegender. The 1/4ths identity can be added into the word to make a more specific gender, e.g. subgirl, subfluid, minumeboy, etc.[187] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Sychnogender

sychnogender, sychnogenderfluid. Gk. συχνός "frequent." Coined by gyey. "Like [argrogender] but regarding frequency. The gender of someone who is sychnogender might change many times throughout the course of a day." [188] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    T

    Tachigender

tachigender, tachigenderfluid. Gk. ταχύτητα "speed." Coined by gyey. "Like [argrogender] but regarding rapidity, a gender that changes quickly or that otherwise has to do with high speed." [189] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Transgender

transgender[190] is an umbrella term for all genders that go beyond society’s ideas of gender, which includes some kinds of binary gender people. Some call their gender identity simply "transgender," as a nonbinary identity itself. People who do so include Richard O'Brien,[citation needed] and Eddie Izzard.[citation needed] Why this is in the list of poorly-attested nonbinary identities: transgender is a common enough identity, held by thousands, but we need evidence that many people use "transgender" as nonbinary identity in and of itself.

    Truatgender

trauatgender. Coined by furryhell. "A gender that varies; it can change a lot, it could be unknown, it could just be there, it could be nonexistent, etc. Whatever it is, it was based from intense trauma. Should only be used by those who have experienced or are going through what they consider intense trauma."[191] Keywords: neurodiversity, trauma, PTSD, time, questioning, fluid, genderless. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Trendergender

trendergender Coined by twitter user beanieworm/datkittehlovar. "[A] type of neogender where your gender is a reclaimed version of the term 'Transtrender'"[192]

    U

    Ungender

ungender. Coined by Baaphomett in 2014. "Not without but a negative; an unboy would be the negative of a boy and an ungirl would be the negative of a girl."[193] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, two respondents.[1]

    V

    Vaguegender

vaguegender, or gendervague[9] (coined by neurodivergentkin and strangledlove)[194] is defined as a gender identity that is highly influenced by being neurodivergent, and feels undefinable or partly definable because of one’s neurodivergence. Specific kinds of vaguegender include vagueflux, vagueboy, and vaguegirl. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, 0.23% (26) respondents called their gender "gendervague" or "vague," though there is no way to know how many of them meant it with this same definition.[1]

    Venufluid

venufluid. Coined by a-tiny-peach. "Genderfluid but mostly/only fluid with feminine genders (based on venus symbol)." [195] Syn. femmefluid. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Verangender

verangender. A gender that seems to change at the moment it is identified.[196]

    Vestigender

vestigender. A gender that is covering up a larger and stronger gender.[197]

    Vibragender

vibragender. A gender that is usually a sole stable gender, but occasionally fluctuates.[198]

    W

    Winter genders

    Witchgender

    X

    Xirl

xirl. "Someone who identifies in some way as a nonbinary girl or nonbinary girl-adjacent. Someone who identifies with some part of woman/girlhood but who wants a more nonbinary and neutral sounding word because they aren't entirely girls or don't want to be associated with the typical ideas brought up by the word 'girl.'"[199] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, two respondents.[1]

    Xoy

xoy. "Someone who identifies in some way as a nonbinary boy or nonbinary boy-adjacent. Someone who identifies with some part of man/boyhood but who wants a more nonbinary and neutral sounding word because they aren't entirely boys or don't want to be associated with the typical ideas brought up by the word 'boy.'"[200] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    XTX

XTX. A nonbinary, neutral, and/or x-gender counterpart to FTM (female-to-male) and MTF (male-to-female).[87] In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Xumgender

xumgender (coined by ademcshades[201]) is defined as never being satisfied with your gender due to constant self-doubt or identity issues, causing one to compulsively search and seek out something that fits as perfect as possible–to find “the gender” or “the one truth”–though one will never be found due to one’s neurotype, because words will never be able to describe it, and/or its own properties paradox itself. This frequent anxiety and doubt even causes this gender to feel imperfect to the individual. Keywords: xenogender, neurogender, anxiety, OCD, OCPD. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1]

    Y

    Yinyang ren

yinyang ren (陰陽人). In China, yinyang ren are people who have an equal amount of both feminine (yin) and masculine (yang) qualities. Usually this means gender nonconforming and bisexual, but can also mean transgender or intersex. There is question whether it can also be a nonbinary identity. In the 2019 Worldwide Gender Census, no respondents.[1] Why this is considered poorly attested: we need evidence that some people identify with this label as a nonbinary identity.
