Allan D. Hunter is an American writer known for the book Genderqueer: A Story From a Different Closet. The book is semi-autobiographical and follows the protagonist, Derek, coming of age and forming an identity.[2][3]

Hunter is also the author of the academic paper "Same Door, Different Closet: A Heterosexual Sissy's Coming-Out Party", published in 1992 in the journal Feminism & Psychology.[4]


A sequal to Genderqueer by the title That Guy in Our Women's Studies Class is expected to be released in 2021.

As of 2021, Hunter lives in New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York.[1]
