Lissette Espinoza-Garnica is a nonbinary queer Chicanx and a council member for District 3 in Redwood City, California. They won the city council spot in 2020, defeating incumbent Janet Borgens.
Although they are a member of the Democratic Socialists of America Silicon Valley chapter, they ran as an independent candidate with no party affiliation.
Lissette's platform included support for rent control, reducing the police budget, COVID-19 relief, stronger public transit, government transparency, and eco-friendly initiatives.
They have an English degree from Santa Clara University.
