I think it's pushing the term 'legally recognised' a bit. Hijra is not explicitly legally identified based on the given examples. rather 'T' and 'other' and Hijra would fall somewhere beneath the rather wide umbrella.

Hi, in case you see this message, I've made a minor change. I'm not an expert in the topic, so if you have more information, please add it :) --Ondo (talk) 18:24, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Some things to probably add to the article.

  • According to Wikipedia, the term "Hijra" is considered derogatory in Pakistan, and the gender is often referred to as "Khawaja Sira" (with minor spelling variations) instead, so this alternate name should also be mentioned in the article.
  • Both India and Pakistan enacted anti-discrimination legislation against transgender people. Both explicitly mention this gender as an example of who the legislation applies to. This may be relevant to the "Legal Recognition" section.

Good ideas! I don't currently have much time for the wiki (because real life), but this is a wiki, so you can make the changes yourself! Just click on the Edit tab and add the information you want to add :) --Ondo (talk) 09:29, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
Return to "Hijra" page.
