Durga Gawde is an Indian artist, educator, drag king, and activist. They are genderfluid, nonbinary, and pansexual.[2]

They are the only child of two artists, Usha and Sunil Gawde.[4] Durga credits their education at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) for helping them discover their identity, describing the school as "a safe space for people to experiment and express themselves".[2] They have a pet dog, a German Shepherd named Duke.[3]
