Topic on Talk:Gender neutral language in French

Hello, my understanding is that De is feminine and Du is masculine. What could a gender neutral word be, perhaps Da?

Hello, Actually, "du" is a historically contracted form of "de le", so feminine is "de la", and masculine is "de le" > "du". So gender neutral would be "de lae" or "de lea". In words beginning with a vowel, however, it is always "de l'...", the gender of the word doesn't influence the article here.
