Gemma Marie Hickey is a Canadian LGBT rights activist and author. In 2017, they became one of the first Canadians to receive an "X" sex marker on their birth certificate[2] and passport.[1]
They are the founder of Pathways Foundation, which offers support to survivors of clergy abuse, and the Executive Director of For the Love of Learning, which helps at-risk youth through art.[3]
They married Rebecca Rose in spring 2019 in a gender-neutral queer wedding ceremony.[4]
In late 2019 Gemma's memoir, Almost Feral, was published.
