Asher Jelinsky is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Asher earned an MFA in Directing at the American Film Institute, and received the Franklin J. Schaffner Fellow Award for Directing, presented by AFI Fest. They also hold a BA degree with honors in Media Studies and Public Health from Pitzer College.
In 2019, they directed their AFI thesis film, Miller & Son, which explores the feeling of compartmentalization by portraying the life of a transgender mechanic, performed by nonbinary actor Jesse James Keitel. The film won the BAFTA Student Film Award and the Gold Medal for "Best Narrative" (Domestic) at the 2019 Student Academy Awards.
