Examples of use
Examples of reasons someone may identify as cistrans are:

- A multigender person who identifies with both the gender they were assigned and another gender.
- A genderfluid person who identifies as both cisgender or transgender depending on the point in time.
- A person whose lived experience does not align with cisgender or transgender experience for some other reason.
- A varioformic person who identifies with their assigned gender.
- A gender-nonconforming person who may be questioning whether or not they are transgender
- A person who identifies with the isogender, absgender, or cusper identities may also identify with cistrans.
- A person who is transgender but was already born with the correct matching body (such as identifying as a transgender female or transgender male, but already being born in a feminine-aligned body or a masculine-aligned body).
