Transfeminine (also written trans-feminine or trans feminine) describes someone who was assigned male at birth and seeks to present femininely, or to transition to look more feminine, or who identifies as more female than male. The label "trans-feminine" can be considered either a gender identity, a gender expression, or both. It is an umbrella term that includes binary trans women and nonbinary feminine people who are assigned male at birth.[1][2]

Another way of expressing the concept of someone being on the trans-feminine spectrum is to say that such a person is on the male-to-female spectrum (MtF spectrum). This term also is not limited to people who specifically identify as women.
