As many know, the current blue flag is simply a recolor of the Lesbian flag, and has some controversial origins, and the rainbow flag is an umbrella for all LGBT people- so i thought i’d try my hand at making my own, using real symbolism from Gay history! . The green and blue reference the Achillean flag. Green carnations have been used to discreetly symbolize attraction to men since the 1890s! . Purple has also been used as a subtle way for gay men to identify each other for a very long time. . The presentation stripes are meant to be wide umbrellas, but highlight the two sort of “opposite ends”. Masculine presentation as well as bears, and gender nonconformity as well as twinks. Keep in mind, the expressions, presentations, and identities within gay culture are a VAST spectrum- there are bears who enjoy gender nonconformity, twinks who enjoy masculinity, and all sorts of other identities, such as otters, hunks, bunks, pups, manatees, etc. This is just a very simplified flag, as we’d have ENDLESS stripes otherwise! I hope that makes sense! These stripes are open to anyone who identifies with masculinity or nonconformity, i just wanted to include and highlight some well known and important ends of the spectrum ^^ . feel free to use it! it’s for all people who consider themselves gay men (including gay trans men and gay aligned nonbinary people).
