    Allan D. Hunter is an American writer known for the book Genderqueer: A Story From a Different Closet. The book is semi-autobiographical and follows the protagonist, Derek, coming of age and forming an identity.[2][3]

    Hunter is also the author of the academic paper "Same Door, Different Closet: A Heterosexual Sissy's Coming-Out Party", published in 1992 in the journal Feminism & Psychology.[4]

    A sequel to Genderqueer by the title That Guy in Our Women's Studies Class was released in February 2022. The book continues the narrative tale of the protagonist Derek, pursuing women's studies in order to discuss gender.
