« gold hues: the two gold stripes have a second meaning, of purity and authenticity. both stripes represent those who are often excluded from gay circles, such as femmes, trans and nonbinary men, men of color, disabled and neurodivergent men, jewish and romani men, and so, so many more. the specific choice of gold is incredibly important, as gold often represents authenticity. all of us gay men who don’t quite “fit the mold” are just as genuine and real as the gay men society often brings to the spotlight. our love is every bit as genuine as theirs.

six stripes: a reference to how the rainbow flag, the flag that has been used by the majority of gay men for years, has six stripes.

lighter colors in the middle: this represents solidarity with lesbians, who’s flag also has the lighter stripes in the middle. this is especially important, as many of the popular gay flags as of now are slightly altered versions of the lesbian flag, a flag that took several years to be officially recognized and established (one of the main criticisms of the most popular flag at the moment as well.)
