    Muxe or Muxhe is an identity in the Zapotec culture recognized as a Third gender. Muxes are Individuals Assigned Male at Birth (AMAB) who generally adopt feminine aspects and specific roles within Zapotec culture as a third gender. Not to be confused with Muxeidad, while both terms relate to gender roles in Mexican culture, "Muxeidad" refers to the cultural context and state of being that defines a person's identity and experience within Zapotec society, whereas "Muxe" refers to the individual with that identity.
