Demigender is a gender identity that falls under the multigender, nonbinary and transgender umbrellas. Someone who is demigender feels a partial but not total connection with a certain gender. Demigender is considered a non-binary gender, and most demigender people consider themselves to be non-binary.[1] When describing demigender identities, the prefix demi is attached to a gender—for instance, a demigirl is someone who feels a partial, but not full, connection to being a girl. While some believe the prefix demi can be attached to any gender identity, others argue it does not make sense to attach it to agender or neutrois.[1]
Demigender as a gender identity should not be confused with demisexual or demiromantic, which describe sexual and romantic orientations respectively.
