    Kathoey (Thai: กะเทย), is a word used in Thailand to describe a trans woman, a person of a third gender, or an effeminate gay man.[1] It is most often rendered as "ladyboy" in English. The term can be considered pejorative; It has a meaning similar to the English language 'fairy' or 'queen'.[2]
