Lissette Espinoza-Garnica is a nonbinary queer Chicanx and a council member for District 3 in Redwood City, California. They won the city council spot in 2020, defeating incumbent Janet Borgens.[2]
Although they are a member of the Democratic Socialists of America Silicon Valley chapter, they ran as an independent candidate with no party affiliation.[3]
Lissette's platform included support for rent control, reducing the police budget, COVID-19 relief, stronger public transit, government transparency, and eco-friendly initiatives.[4]
They have an English degree from Santa Clara University.[3]
