I was always told by others to “dance like a dude” or “be a boy” & it made me feel uncomfortable, unsafe, & unwelcome. I was never one of the dancers even if I was one of the dancers. They were so comfortable in their bodies & I didn't realize why I felt awkward. It has a lot to do with me fighting my natural energy to give others what they wanted. [...] Through the pandemic lockdown, I discovered that I was genderfluid, non-binary, genderqueer, or any other label you want to put on it, as long as it's respectful. I was terrified at first, not being around enough friends or my community to really get the warm hugs that I needed, but I had a makeup kit a friend gave me. I had time to reflect & work on myself.
