Cemetery Boys, which features a gay Cuban-Mexican trans boy named Yadriel as the protagonist, was inspired by a Tumblr post that asked "What happened if you summoned a ghost and couldn't get rid of it?"[1] The novel made eighth place on the New York Times Best Seller list for Young Adult Hardcover books.[3] The cover art is by nonbinary illustrator Mars Lauderbaugh.[4]

Lost in the Never Woods, a retelling of Peter Pan, began as Thomas' thesis for his Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.[4]
