Chondrolaryngoplasty
|
Chondrolaryngoplasty (also called tracheal shave or Adam's apple reduction) is a surgical procedure in which the thyroid cartilage is reduced in size by shaving down the cartilage through an incision in the throat, generally to aid those who are uncomfortable with the girth of their Adam's apple. This procedure is done by some transfeminine individuals, because the Adam's apple grows larger during an AMAB person's puberty.
This procedure has no impact on the patient's voice.[1]
Chondrolaryngoplasty is most often done as an outpatient surgery, meaning the patient does not have to be admitted to a hospital for the procedure.[2]
